The company employs in excess of 800 staff all of whom
are direct employees. We sub-contract less than ten percent of our work
and only where this is specialist work which requires management
techniques not covered by The Kinetics Group. Having stated that we
cover specialist areas such as asbestos removal, security, catering and
commercial gas installations through our own staff. We also undertake
decent homes, construction, building, electrical and heating
installation and maintenance. All our technicians receive ongoing
training throughout their time with us. We provide all of these
services on a 24 hour 365 day basis. Our out of hours calls are handled
by either our managers or a staffed bureau. The company is reviewing
a proposal to roll out IIP Company wide, we are also looking at the
criteria for recruitment, training and retention to include them in our
personnel procedures. Currently staff turnover runs at about 5% across
all categories. We operate a scheme for apprentices of which there are
38 at various stages at present. We would be willing to look at any
joint initiatives you may wish to suggest or indeed any such government
schemes which may be locally promoted. We have worked with New Deal and
NVQ schemes for office staff in the past, and we work with Fusion 21 in
the NW on an innovative training and construction scheme in the north
west of England.
For the past ten years we have pioneered the use of IT for
processing of works orders, the production of performance indicators
and reports detailing the progress of orders. All of our technicians
are issued with hand held communication enabling regular and consistent
contact with our office, clients and contract managers. We have
developed our website to allow our clients to monitor the progress of
their orders, obtain their own performance indicators or and to enter
their orders direct onto our system with a guaranteed appointment date
and time.
For the past three years we have been actively pursuing partnering
arrangements with our clients such as Lambeth, Southwark, Knowsley
Council, Peabody Trust, Notting Hill H G and the MOD. We have a
programme of internal partnering awareness and joint client workshops
to deliver improved services.
With such an extensive range of partnering skills set up with the
above clients we would be willing to share all of this knowledge with
new partners. Our contracts represent partnering across maintenance,
specialist services, decent homes and training initiatives. We would
set up and facilitate meetings with all these clients so you can walk
the floor with us and see first hand the real work we are doing. They
all include elements of local labour initiatives, training, supply
chain management and joint working locations. In some we are providing
lump sum works contracts and in others labour only. The company
does not sub-contract as a rule. The majority of our operatives are
directly employed [864 at the last count]. However we do wish to
promote good practice in equal opportunity and therefore we are willing
to engage local sub-contractors where this meets the clients EO policy.
We have a regular cycle for training and we include our long-term
sub-contractors within this. Where a sub-contractor is of sufficient
size to avoid this we seek their records to certify that they at least
meet, if not exceed, our own standards.
Your bid will be led by a director of the Kinetics Group who will
become the group's contract director for the project if we are
successful. We will also give you named senior managers for the
management of your contract once we have completed the pre-contract
formalities and we are aware of the extent of the work and project make
up, we will work with yourselves to form a specific team for the
project. We have established a number of new contracts for our clients
and these have involved rapid and detailed set-ups. In one case we
established and opened 9 new offices with full IT links in 16 days for
a single client and in another we set up a contract administration team
within the client's organisation within a week. For operations which
involve close cooperation we can set up our IT and integrate a contract
team within the client organisation inside a fortnight.
We aim to develop a 3 Star service for our client so that they meet
all of their KLOE's within the uppermost quartile of all LA's.
