11 June 2008

Wednesday 4th June was a full day for the Kinetics Group! The directors team of Kinetics Group Ltd joined Julie Fadden and Julie Marsh and the staff of South Liverpool Housing (SLH) for their monthly Walk About Wednesday (WAW). Every first Wednesday of the month, SLH staff walk their Estates and clear litter, report repairs and engage with their tenants. Staff from all SLH’s departments
join in and meet their tenants first hand, whilst cleaning the estate and trouble shooting. Taking their litter pickers and rubbish bags with them, the directors team threw themselves into the task wholeheartedly. In one case Howie Reynolds, one of the directors of our gas business, even went “back to the floor” and fixed a faulty gas boiler on the spot with a quick and simple diagnosis.
It was an enjoyable exercise and SLH should be very proud of their work, WAW is a brilliant exercise in people engagement and the estate was clearly well looked after.Barry Roberts (Director of Cameron, part of the Kinetics Partnerships and based in our
Speke office) said “We always work closely with our clients and the WAW was an entirely different experience. I enjoyed meeting the
tenants and SLH staff, who are all clearly committed to their cause.”
Julie Fadden, SLH chief executive, explained “We want to go out and hear what our tenants want rather than wait for them to come to us. In this way, we hope to spot potential problems before they occur and build on existing relationships in our communities while forging new ones.”
Chris Cheshire, Kinetics Group MD, said that “I believe this shows that our people are truly concerned about the community and nothing is too much for us to do. When we tabled the idea, the staff response was remarkable.”
The first WAW took place in May 2005 and takes place on the first Wednesday of every month in the neighbourhoods of Speke and Garston. The scheme has proved highly successful and other Housing Associations are looking to adopt the idea. |
