Manchester City Council in Partnership with Kinetics Group and additional contractor partners, have been honoured for outstanding achievement at the annual Government Opportunities (GO) magazine Excellence in Public Procurement Awards.
The partnership was awarded the highly coveted winner’s trophy in the Sustainability category, following outstanding innovation in applying sustainability principles to a number of key projects.
Accepting the Award was Karen Bentham from Kinetics Group, Qumer Khan from Manchester City Council, and Suzanna Rhead from Connextions.
“We are delighted to have won this award for the Young People into Construction Initiative. We have succeeded in delivering a key strategic objective to offer employment opportunities to the young people of Manchester. We have proven that partnership working and sustainable procurement can be utilised to create social and economic benefits for Manchester communities.”
The prestigious GO Awards ceremony, held in London, also featured high-profile speakers Chairman of the Audit Commission Michael O’Higgins and Chief Executive of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), Nigel Smith.
